B.C. records 13 deaths due to COVID-19, hospitalizations remain below 1,000

Hospitalizations from COVID-19 are slightly dropping in the province however, 13 more British Columbians have died in the past 24 hours.
Deaths were recorded in all five regions Thursday: four in Fraser Health, four in Vancouver Coastal Health, two in Interior Health, two in Island Health, and one in Northern Health.
The number of people infected with the virus and are in hospital has dropped by three for a total of 985. However, the number of people in the intensive care unit has nine more people for a total of 145 patients.
People who were not fully vaccinated accounted for a little over 25 per cent of cases from Jan. 26 to Feb. 1. And from Jan. 19 to Feb. 1, they accounted for about 31 per cent of hospitalizations.
The province recorded 1,518 new COVID-19 cases. However, the actual number of new cases is likely much higher due to restrictions on testing.
There have been two new healthcare facility outbreaks at Trinity Care Centre and Gillis House in the Interior Health region.
The outbreak at St. Ann’s Catholic School in Northern Health is declared over.
