‘Suspicious’ incident at Richmond business prompts RCMP investigation

Richmond RCMP are looking into reports of a man who allegedly pulled down a child’s pants at a local business.

The complaint was filed by a parent on Monday, March 14, after a woman in a parent monitoring room said she saw the incident through a television. This television cycles through surveillance video from various cameras located throughout the business.

Because the complainant said it was dark and there were lasers in operation at the time, she could not give a detailed description of those apparently involved.

“The complainant did report the incident to staff who immediately turned on the lights and attended the area but did not see anything suspicious,” a release reads.

The incident took place at a business near Number 6 road and Triangle road between 4:45 pm and 5:15 pm.

Police reviewed security footage and said they didn’t see anything suspicious but added they are still taking this report very seriously.

“This is a very serious allegation, and we are doing everything we can to attempt to identify those involved,” Corporal Adriana O’Malley said in the statement.

Anyone who may have witnessed or have information about this incident can call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212. If you’d like to remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers by phone at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit them online at www.solvecrime.ca.
