West Vancouver resident reportedly feeding bears and coyotes could be charged

A West Vancouver resident who has reportedly been feeding bears and coyotes in the area could soon be facing charges.

According to the B.C. Conservation Officer Service, a local was caught Friday afternoon by COs who were following up on a tip to the Report All Poachers and Polluters hotline.

Few details have been shared but the tip alleges this person “spent months” feeding wildlife.

The service notes public safety is at risk when you illegally feed wildlife.

Placing food or attractants out for animals like bears and coyotes is considered dangerous, and also puts the animal’s welfare at risk.

The service notes feeding dangerous wildlife is an offence under the BC Wildlife Act.
