Northern Canada is in the middle of a mini-heat wave, making it the hottest region in the country.
The Northwest Territories, Yukon, northern B.C. and northern Saskatchewan recorded the country’s highest temperatures on Saturday.
“The hotspot in Canada is Fort Providence, in the Northwest Territories,” said Chris Wielki, meteorologist with Environment Canada. “The normal high is about 18 degrees … so they’re running almost 10 degrees above (that).”

Wielki explained that the region is seeing “really warm, sunny sky conditions, which exists through most of the Northwest Territories and portions of Saskatchewan as well.”
Going forward, Wielki predicted around four more days of the hot weather, explaining it would be “extending until Wednesday, and then (it will) cool off slightly into the low 20s.”
While the temperatures are above normal, Wielki said they are still below record highs.
