An arrest has been made in connection with a deadly stabbing in Whistler last year.
According to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, 22-year-old Dedaar Jhooty was arrested on June 22, 2022, and later charged with manslaughter in the death of Henry Garcia Molina.
IHIT says it was assisted by various agencies, including the Richmond and Surrey RCMPs.
Molina died after he showed up at the Whistler Medical Clinic with stab wounds around 2 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021. He succumbed to his injuries before first responders arrived, IHIT notes.
“We believe this to be an isolated incident, in what is normally a peaceful resort community,” Cpl. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT said last year.
The homicide team said at the time that it had identified “several persons of interest,” and that there were likely “multiple individuals involved in the murder.”

Just days after his death, Molina’s family and police put out calls to the public for help.
“Henry’s life did not deserve to be taken away so brutally,” the family wrote in a previous statement shared by police.
“Henry Garcia Molina’s death was a shock to his family and the Whistler community,” IHIT Sgt. David Lee said in a release issued June 26, 2022. “We hope that this arrest provides some closure and solace to his family.”
Molina was described by his loved ones as a person who “left a positive impact on everyone” he met.
“Henry was very involved with the community and admired by many. He was a kind-hearted young man who was always willing to help others,” his family added.
A GoFundMe campaign was launched shortly after his death to help his family cover the costs of his memorial. The fundraiser surpassed its initial goal of $15,000, with more than $33,000 donated.
