Vancouver Police arrest man after bottle thrown at baby

After an attack on a baby in a stroller in Downtown Vancouver, police are appealing for the parents to come forward.

Police say it happened on Monday around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Davie and Bidwell, when a man allegedly threw a glass bottle at an infant.

The caller claimed that although the contents of the bottle splashed on the baby and the grownups nearby, the baby was not struck by the bottle.

The investigation has resulted in the arrest of a 31-year-old Vancouver resident.

“This attack appears to be completely unprovoked, and must have been terrifying for everyone involved,” says Const.Tania Visintin. “Based on the description given to police by the witness, a suspect was arrested nearby.”

According to Visintin, the family departed before the police arrived, so no one was able to identify them.

Vancouver police are pleading to whomever was with the baby to call police so the investigation can advance.

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 604-717-4022.
