Downtown Eastside stabbing victim dies of injuries, homicide team takes over

A man who was stabbed on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside earlier this month has died of his injuries.
Homicide investigators believe the 29-year-old was slashed during a confrontation near Columbia and East Hastings streets on July 9 around 5 p.m.
Zane Ponecappo collapsed shortly after the incident and was taken to the hospital. Police say he died Thursday night.
Few other details have been released. Police are hoping to speak with anyone who may have information about Ponecappo’s death.
