Vehicle related to Chilliwack double homicide found in Bridal Falls; suspect still at large

Investigators say they’ve located the vehicle associated with the suspect in Thursday’s double homicide in Chilliwack.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says the Jeep YJ linked to Eric Shestalo was found in Bridal Falls Friday morning. The 50-year-old, however, has yet to be found.

“Investigators are in the process of determining why Mr. Shestalo travelled to Bridal Falls. We’re working to determine if he remains in the area or if he left,” said Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT.

On Thursday, police issued a notice saying the suspect was considered armed and dangerous. IHIT is urging people to “use caution and not approach Shestalo” if they see him, and to call 9-1-1 right way.

Pierotti reiterated that warning Saturday.

“We are still urging people not to approach Mr. Shestalo and to contact 9-1-1 immediately. So far we’ve had many people come forward to provide information. We need that to continue as we work to track down Mr. Shestalo,” he said in a release.

IHIT says the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment RCMP (UFVRD) received reports Thursday of two women and a man suffering from gunshot wounds on McNaught Avenue and Yale Street.

When officers arrived, one woman was already dead. The second woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. The man who was hurt suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The homicide team has previously said it’s believed the suspect and victims knew each other.

Investigators say Shestalo is described as 5’9″ tall, 176 pounds, and was last seen wearing black pants, a black jacket, and a black hat with an orange rim.

IHIT is looking to speak with anyone who may have been in Bridal Falls between 11 a.m. on July 21 and 10 a.m. on July 22 to contact investigators. IHIT is also looking for dash cam footage or any information related to the homicides.
