Children in B.C. between six months and five years old will begin to be vaccinated against COVID-19 Tuesday.
Health Canada approved the Moderna mRNA vaccine for use among those ages last month, with parents receiving invitations to book appointments in the last two weeks.
According to the province, the Moderna vaccine for young children uses a smaller dose of the same vaccine used for older youths and adults.

“Children aged 6 months to 5 years receive a 25 microgram dose, which is a quarter of the dosage for adults,” the province writes.
Even if your child has previously had COVID-19, the government suggests for them to still receive the vaccine, however, they should wait eight weeks after their symptoms start or after they test positive for the virus.
A second dose of the vaccine will be offered to parents and their children about eight weeks after the first dose.
Registration for the vaccine can be done on the B.C. Government website.
