BC SPCA searching for missing dog after shelter break-in

A BC SPCA in Northern B.C. is searching for a missing dog after its shelter was broken into overnight.

Staff at the SPCA shelter in Prince George arrived at the building Friday morning and “discovered that someone had broken into the shelter and let all the dogs in one area of the building out,” according to Jamey Blair, BC SPCA senior manager for the North Cariboo region.

Blair says two of the missing dogs were being held at the shelter as part of an animal control contract with the city.

“We suspect that the break-in was related to these two dogs, but this has not been confirmed,” she said.

Initially, four dogs were missing, however, three have been found. Marshmallow, the Great Pyrenees was located and is safely back at the shelter, Blair says.

“He wandered into someone’s backyard and laid down on their porch.”

One Rottweiler-mix is still missing, “who will hopefully be located and be back safe with us soon,” Blair said.

If anyone sees the dog, they’re asked to please contact the Prince George SPCA at 250-562-5511 with their location.

“We want to get them safely back to the shelter as soon as possible.”
