IHIT called in after fatal Abbotsford stabbing near McCallum Rd

One person has died after a reported stabbing in Abbotsford late Thursday afternoon.
Abbotsford Police Department has confirmed the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has now taken over the investigation.
In a release, AbbyPD says officers responded to a reported stabbing just after 5:45 p.m. at a residence on McCallum Road, north of Highway 1 near Cornwall Avenue.



AbbyPD is currently on scene in the 1900 block of McCallum Road for a reported stabbing. Large police presence in the area. Victim transported to hospital in serious condition. Suspect is in police custody. Scene is secure. More info as it becomes available.

Officers found a man “suffering from life-threatening injuries. The man was transported to the hospital, where he, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries.”
A 46-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is in custody, police say. IHIT says there is no threat to the public.
“We are in the preliminary stages of this investigation, with investigators attempting to establish a motive and to determine if the suspect and victim knew each other.”
