“The victim suffered a number of stab wounds, including injuries to his chest and throat,” said Sgt. Steve Addison.

Despite suffering serious injuries, the victim was able to call 9-1-1 for help. Several witnesses also helped out and provided first aid until police arrived.

“We now expect him to pull through,” added Addison.

Vancouver police are also crediting witnesses for their help in identifying a suspect, who was arrested a short time later, in CRAB Park.

“Public safety is a shared responsibility, and we always encourage people to call police immediately if they see a crime in progress or a person in danger,” said Addison.

The 43-year-old suspect remains in custody.
