Metro Vancouver still smoky but rain in the forecast

Air quality is still smoky in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley as an advisory remains in place.

Environment and Climate Change Canada says the risk will be “moderate” in the area Wednesday but the risk rating in Hope near the Flood Falls Trail wildfire is “high”.

The fire is over 545 hectares and is listed as out of control.

The BC Wildfire Service is telling people who may be in the area to be aware of their surroundings and to slow down.

It notes crews are having a hard time getting the fire under control because of how steep the terrain is.

As smoky conditions continue there may be some relief in sight. There’s rain in the forecast for later this week with Environment Canada saying some areas could see precipitation as of Wednesday.

In the meantime, people who are at higher risk are recommended to take precautions.
