Port Moody police investigate after multiple tires slashed

The Port Moody Police Department is investigating after a series of vehicles had their tires slashed.

Police say there are at least eight instances of slashed tires which were reported overnight between Oct. 3 and Oct. 4 in the area of View Street and Highview Place.

Police believe they are all connected.

Port Moody Cst. Sam Zacharias says investigators do not yet have a suspected motive for the apparent spree.

“At this point, the investigation is in its early stages,” he said. “But we are looking for the public’s assistance in dashcam, CCTV, and potential witnesses or people who know something to come forward to help us put those pieces together.”

Zacharias says the person or people behind the damage could end up with a charge of mischief over $5,000.

Although police received eight reports of slashed tires, they believe there could be more and are urging potential victims to file a report with them.
