Vancouver police release photos of PNE riot suspects

Police in Vancouver have released the photos of 10 people who are wanted in connection with this summer’s riot at the PNE Amphitheatre.

According to the Vancouver Police Department, the riot on Sept. 18 caused more than $300,000 in damages, after the last-minute cancellation of the headliner, Lil Baby, at the Breakout Festival.

Police say food kiosks, tables, and light fixtures were damaged, while fights also broke out in the PNE grounds and nearby neighbourhoods.

“We promised to do everything we could to identify the people responsible for destroying property and putting other concert-goers in danger,” Insp. Dale Weidman, the officer in charge of VPD’s Major Crime Section, said, adding police have spent the last six weeks looking through footage to identify suspects.

“Now, we’re asking for your help to identify these suspects so we can continue to hold them accountable.”

VPD has released images of the people it is looking for and has posted them online to its website in effort to find the suspects.

“These pictures represent our top 10 suspects – those who engaged in some of the most dangerous and destructive behavior,” Weidman said.

Additional suspects and their photos will be released as the investigation continues, he adds.

“Every single one of these photos could represent a classmate, a friend, neighbour, or a family member. If you recognize one of these people, we ask you to visit vpd.ca/top-10 and use our online form to submit a tip. If you’re one of the people in these photos, or you’re worried that embarrassing pictures of you could be released in the future, it’s not too late to come forward.”
