A man is badly hurt after a targeted shooting in Delta late Thursday night.
The Delta Police Department says officers were called to a report of a shooting on 92A Avenue near 117 Street in North Delta shortly after 11:10 p.m.
When police arrived, officers found a man with “significant injuries” in a vehicle and was taken to hospital.

“Investigators have advised that this event was a targeted shooting and it appears to be related to the Lower Mainland gang conflict. The injured person was the intended target,” Acting Insp. James Sandberg with DPD told CityNews.
Sandberg says there is no ongoing threat to the public, and officers are now working with Surrey RCMP who since recovered a burned vehicle in the Bridgeview neighbourhood.
“That vehicle, although not confirmed at this point being related to our shooting, is suspected to be related,” Sandberg said.
While residents may be concerned as there have been no arrests related to the shooting, Sandburg says everything the DPD does is with the objective of public safety.
“Everything that we do, and all the approaches that we take to investigate, as well as to prevent crime, is focused on public safety.
“And so we are working with our community to keep the community safe. And with that, one way that the community can contribute to that is by providing information if they have that.”
