IHIT called in after second Surrey shooting in 24 hours, man not expected to survive

Shots were fired in Surrey Thursday night, for the second time in 24 hours.
Surrey RCMP has confirmed the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has now been called in, after a 24-year-old man arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds.
“Due to the serious nature of his injuries, the man is not expected to survive,” Surrey RCMP Const. Sarbjit Sangha said in a statement Friday.
Initially, the Surrey RCMP said the shooting took place in the Whalley neighbourhood of 92nd Avenue and King George Boulevard. However, Sangha says investigators are “actively working” to find out the exact location where the shooting occurred.

“Officers are conducting neighbourhood canvassing and speaking with witnesses to obtain further information. The investigation is still in its early stages and police are still working to determine a possible motive,” Snr. Sgt. Brad Essex said.
The shooting comes after another man was shot and seriously hurt near the Surrey-Delta border around 5 p.m. Wednesday. The 25-year-old was taken to hospital in stable condition.
Early Thursday morning, police were then called to reports of a vehicle fire on 88A Avenue off 133A Street.
“Early indications are that this is a stolen vehicle that fled the area after the shooting. Further analysis will be done to confirm any linkages to the shooting,” Sangha said Thursday.
Police have not confirmed whether all three incidents are linked.
