YWCA will be using hair to create a wall that reads “Woman. Life. Freedom.”

Tamineh Sadeghi took part in the demonstration Saturday and says the Iranian regime forces women to cover up their hair as a means to exert control.

“Women in Iran started cutting their hair to show ‘if this is the reason you are covering me…and making me invisible, I’m going to get rid of this hair and see what other excuses you will have to make us invisible,” she said.

Another demonstrator, Amy Juschka says she wanted to show support for Iranian women around the world.

“We hear them, we see them, we support them,” she said.

Protests in Iran and around the world have continued following the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody in September.
