The Delta Police Department is revealing details of a disturbing incident that happened in the city Wednesday, in which two women were confined in a van.
Police say just before noon, officers were called to reports of a “distraught person” near Highway 17 and Ladner Trunk Road.
When they arrived, officers found a 21-year-old woman had been assaulted, robbed and “forcibly confined” in a U-Haul van. Police say the woman managed to escape the van, but they found another woman was still inside the vehicle. Investigators say the women knew each other.

Police say “immediate action” was taken to find the other woman still held in the U-Haul, notifying other police in the area.
It led to Langley RCMP finding the van in Aldergrove, where they arrested a man and a woman. The second victim was found unharmed, police say.
Investigators say “several charges” are being recommended to Crown Counsel, including for forcible confinement and assault. The suspects have not yet made a court appearance, but will remain in custody until charges are approved.
