Surrey massage therapist charged with sexual assault

A Surrey massage therapist has been charged after a woman reported being sexually assaulted last month.

According to the RCMP, the incident is said to have happened at a clinic along 96 Avenue on Nov. 14 during the course of an appointment.

“Surrey RCMP Special Victims Unit assumed conduct of the investigation due to the sensitive nature of the allegations,” the RCMP explained in a release.

Mounties say more than a week later, a 50-year-old was arrested and charged with sexual assault.

Gudbjartur Bodhi Haraldsson, who also goes by Bodhi, was released on conditions, including that he is not to provide any “therapeutic services” — personal or professional, including massage therapy and other body treatment — to anyone “who identifies as a woman.”

Police are asking anyone with information about this investigation to contact them.

You can reach the RCMP at 604.599.0502 and ask to speak to the Special Victim’s Unit.
