BC Ferries cancels morning southern route sailings due to snow

BC Ferries has cancelled all southern route sailings Tuesday morning because of heavy snow.

At least the first two sailings on major routes to and from Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island have been cancelled, along with sailings to and from the Sunshine Coast.

All Southern Gulf Island sailings have also been cancelled.

BC Ferries spokesperson Deb Marshall says the ferries weren’t going anywhere in the morning.

“It’s due to the heavy snow accumulation,” she explained. “The roads in many instances haven’t been ploughed yet, and our customers and employees aren’t able to get to the terminal.”

Services have resumed for some sailings, with updates found at BC Ferries current conditions page.
