Pedestrian fatally struck by SUV driver in Langley

A 57-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a driver in a small SUV in Langley Saturday.

According to the RCMP, the man appeared to be walking along the stretch of Glover Road near the Langley Bypass at around 7:30 a.m.

Staff Sgt. Kimberly Farlin told CityNews the driver was not impaired but the weather was terrible and made for poor visibility.

“Unfortunately the vehicle didn’t see him in time and ended up striking him,” Farlin said.

Police say the man was staying with family in Surrey and suggests he may have been visiting.

The driver from Langley is cooperating with the police.
