While there may have been stress, frustration and chaos at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) last week, the facility has shared a heart-warming story of a young child who will be reunited with their stuffed friend.
It began on Dec. 20, when Alberta Senator Paula Simons tweeted out a picture of a stuffed bunny that had been found at YVR.
“My daughter turned Bunny into the YVR lost & found this evening after her own flight was cancelled. She’s hoping for a happy ending,” the tweet said.
Do you know this bunny? This well-loved fren got left behind in the frenzy at the Vancouver airport today. The next day, YVR got involved, with the airport’s Twitter account responding to Simons’ tweet.
“We hope to reunite this comfort passenger with its human!”
What a cutie! We hope to reunite this comfort passenger with its human! We'll take good care of it until we can!

Two days later, Twitter user Neva Bassingthwaite responded to the thread saying it was her young son’s stuffed animal, attaching some photos.
“After 60 hours of delays and flight cancellations, we finally arrived in Edmonton for our son’s first time meeting his Canadian family,” she wrote. “Reuniting them would be a Christmas miracle!”
That's our son's Bunbun! After 60 hours of delays and flight cancellations, we finally arrived in Edmonton for our son's first time meeting his Canadian family. Our luggage is still lost in transit so reuniting them would be a Christmas miracle! pic.twitter.com/6noBrJ8jlZ

The whole saga drew attention from many on Twitter, rooting for the bunny to be reunited with its owner.
One person responded to Simons’ original tweet, saying their kids had the same stuffed rabbit.
“Thank you to your wonderful daughter who is trying to help some child,” the tweet said.
Our daughter and son have the same bunny! Thank you to your wonderful daughter who is trying to help some child. The kindness of strangers makes my eyes swell with tears! Happy Hanukkah!

Others responding to the thread shared how their children also had strong connections to their stuffed friends.
“I know that if my daughter somehow lost her Mama Monkey, she’d want people like you looking out for her,” one person wrote.
Incredible, Paula and daughter. I know that if my daughter somehow lost her Mama Monkey, she’d want people like you looking out for her. Warmest, happiest holidays, friend.

Then, on Christmas Day, YVR tweeted out some good news. “We’ve been in touch with the owner and are in the process of reuniting them with Bunbun,” the airport tweeted.

With all the frenzy and challenges you found time care for a person missing their bunny. Keep doing that.
