The City of Vancouver is enlisting your help to come up with solutions to the lack of affordable housing.
It’s looking for public input to figure out ways to develop more multiple housing units like duplexes, triplexes, and more.
This comes after council last week directed staff to begin public engagement to fill what’s being described as the “missing middle” to Vancouver neighbourhoods.
Vancouverites can share their thoughts through in-person and online information sessions, as well as through an online survey.

Council says some of the goals of this public engagement include “creating opportunities to make neighbourhoods more complete and connected” through housing that has “convenience access” to various services and amenities; creating various “housing ownership options”; and creating more housing options for everyone in the city.
Developers have complained for years about how long it takes a building permit to make its way through city hall.
Some of the options floated to address concerns have included simplifying regulations and streamlining processes.
Meanwhile, Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim prioritized new home construction in his first State of the City address on Jan. 24.
He cited his council’s intent to build more homes and development, as well as ease some housing restrictions. He did not provide any specifics.
