Vancouver homicide team deployed after body found in Chinatown

A man was found dead in Vancouver’s Chinatown neighbourhood early Monday morning in what is being considered the city’s third homicide of the year.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says officers were called to West Pender and Carrall streets just after midnight.

When police arrived, they found a man dead.

In photos shared online, a major police presence could be seen at the intersection. Evidence markers and a white tent were placed over the road on West Pender Street.

The VPD’s Sgt. Steve Addison says the victim hasn’t yet been identified and no arrests have been made.

Police are not saying how the victim was killed, and confirmed they will be canvassing nearby businesses for surveillance footage.

Anyone with information is asked to call the VPD’s Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500.
