Abbotsford crash leaves 2 people seriously hurt, dog dead: Police

Two people are in the hospital, and one dog has died, following a crash on Highway 1 in Abbotsford Thursday night.

A spokesperson with the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) says the collision happened around 11:15 p.m. near the Clearbrook Road exit.

Police say the vehicle “left the highway” and slammed into a power pole, causing extensive damage.

The 23-year-old driver is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the 19-year-old passenger is seriously hurt.

Police say a dog was thrown from the vehicle and found dead nearby.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, police say, and officers are asking people with potential dash-cam videos to come forward.

“Anyone travelling along Highway 1 at the time of the collision last evening who may have dash camera footage of the incident is asked to contact police,” the spokesperson said.
