Surrey RCMP looks for missing Indigenous woman last seen in Vancouver

Mounties in Surrey are searching for an Indigenous woman last seen in Vancouver around Christmas.

The RCMP says Melissa Koks was reported as missing on Feb. 1, 2023. Her last known whereabouts were in the area of West 12th Avenue and Oak Street, near Vancouver General Hospital, on Dec. 23, 2022.

While investigators say they’ve “taken a number of steps” to find the 28-year-old, she remains missing.

“It is unusual for her to be out of touch for this length of time, and police are hoping to confirm her well-being,” the RCMP says in a release.

Koks is described as being 5’4″ tall and weighing 120 lbs. She has long black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
