Crews fight East Hastings building fire

Vancouver Fire Rescue Services battled another fire at a commercial building on East Hastings between Princess and Jackson Avenue Saturday afternoon.

According to Assistant Chief of Operations Brade Hesse, 28 crews were on the scene.

“Crews arrived, there were flames coming out of the building,” Hesse said.

Crews say no one was inside the building nor was anyone injured.

The 500 block of Hastings in both directions was closed for a few hours with buses being rerouted. The road has since been reopened.

It’s been a busy day for firefighters. Crews responded to a blaze on East Broadway at Fraser Street earlier this morning — it took 40 firefighters to knock the fire down and left Broadway closed for much of the day Saturday.
