Burnaby assault suspect arrested after senior hurt in Metrotown
Mounties in Burnaby say a 30-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with an assault on a senior in Metrotown.
The Burnaby RCMP says thanks to a tip from the public, officers found and arrested the suspect around 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
This comes after officers were called to the mall on Thursday, April 20 around 9:30 a.m. after reports a man had shoved an 89-year-old woman to the ground.

The woman was reportedly walking through the mall when the incident took place. The two did not know each other, investigators add, noting the woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
She has since been released from the hospital.

“We would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance. We asked for help and they stepped up,” Corp. Mike Kalanj said.
Police say the same man is also said to have assaulted two other people in the mall, who have yet to come forward. Mounties say in one case, a man “was pushed seconds before the elderly woman was assaulted,” while a second man was shoved “moments after the incident.”
