Surrey human remains identified: RCMP

Mounties in Surrey say human remains found in Cloverdale in February have been identified.

On Feb. 13, the Surrey RCMP says human remains were found in a “wooded area on an empty lot,” near the area of 190 Street and the Fraser Highway.

Last week, Mounties asked the public for help in identifying the remains, sharing a tattoo and clothing the man was wearing.

After working with the BC Coroner’s Service, police say the man’s identity has been confirmed. Investigators do not think the man’s death was the result of criminal activity.

“Out of respect for the deceased’s family and their request for privacy, police will not be releasing his name,” the RCMP said.
