Abbotsford murder charges laid, IHIT

Two people are facing charges in connection with a murder in an Abbotsford home that happened last year, according to homicide investigators.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says 22-year-old Tanner Fox is facing a charge of second-degree murder, while 30-year-old Laetitia Acera is facing a charge of manslaughter.

Investigators say this comes after a man was shot at a home in March of 2022.

At the time, police were called to the area of Latimer Street and Laburnum Avenue near Stoney Creek just before 10 p.m. on March 21.

When officers arrived, they found the victim, who was later identified as 41-year-old Chad Colivas, who was found shot inside a home.

Police say first responders tried to treat the man, but he died from his injuries.

IHIT says both suspects were arrested on Friday.

“This has been a dynamic and complex investigation,” says Sgt. Timothy Pierotti said. “As always, IHIT is grateful for its strong partnership with the Abbotsford Police Department and the other integrated teams, and the strong work completed by all investigators, which led to these results.”
