Cyclist struck by vehicle in Surrey: RCMP

Mounties in Surrey are saying a cyclist was taken to the hospital Saturday after they were struck by a vehicle.

The Surrey RCMP says officers were called to the intersection of 96th Avenue and Fraser Highway just after 1:30 p.m.

Mounties say a vehicle headed westbound hit the cyclist who was riding northbound in the crosswalk.

“Members arrived on scene, and provided first aid treatment to the injured cyclist, while awaiting Emergency Health Services attendance.  The cyclist was transported to an area hospital, where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries,” an email to CityNews reads.

Neither speed nor alcohol are considered factors in the crash, Mounties add.
