Vancouver police cruiser windshield smashed, arrest made

Police in Vancouver say a man in his 20s has been arrested after he is said to have jumped on a police cruiser and smashed the windshield.

According to a tweet from the Vancouver Police Department, officers were in the area of Smithe and Granville streets on Sunday morning “dealing with a traffic stop.”

#VPDscanner: Officers were dealing with a traffic stop early Sunday morning at Smithe & Granville when a man in his 20s, unrelated to the stop, jumped on their police car. Unrelated to the traffic stop, police say the man hopped on top of the car, smashed the window, and then tried to run away.

He was arrested, and police say charges are pending.
