Surrey pedestrian hit by bus, taken to hospital with critical injuries

A man has been taken to hospital after being hit by a bus while crossing the street in Surrey early Friday morning.
The Surrey RCMP says at around 2:40 a.m., officers responded to reports of the incident on 96th Avenue near 140th Street.
Mounties say a private bus was driving east along 96th when the driver struck the man who was crossing between intersections.
Police say the victim suffered critical injuries.
The driver of the bus remained on the scene, police say, adding that while the investigation is in the early stages, “alcohol and speed do not currently appear to be contributing factors to the collision.”
