Vancouver Chinatown shooting lands 1 in hospital

A shooting Friday night near Vancouver’s Chinatown neighbourhood has left a person with “serious injuries,” the Vancouver Police Department says.

In a statement to CityNews, Const. Tania Visintin says the shooting took place in Andy Livingston Park.

“Preliminary evidence indicates this is not gang-related and the suspect and victim know each other,” Visintin said.

Police confirm the suspect is still “outstanding,” however there’s no risk to the public “despite this happening in a public setting on a hot summer night.”

Visintin says the victim remains in hospital with serious injuries.

Police are not confirming any details about the victim or suspect.
