Vancouver Dyke March and Festival kicks off Saturday

British Columbians can head out to participate in this year’s Vancouver Dyke March and Festival which kicks off Saturday afternoon.

The march begins at noon at McSpadden Park, with participants eventually making their way down Commercial Drive to Grandview Park.

The festival is scheduled to run until 5 p.m., and says you can expect to see “stage performances, community vendors and food trucks.”

“Our vision for the world is one that respects and values people of all sexual and gender identities, expressions and orientations, where everyone has the opportunity to love, live, and thrive,” the event’s website reads.

“We also envision space for marginalized voices in 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. This is accomplished through the inclusion, empowerment and celebration of trans and cisgender women and femmes, butches, as well as other trans, genderqueer, gender non-conforming, and non-binary individuals.”

Hundreds of people typically show up for the annual march.
