Lil Tay ‘not dead’ after ‘jarring misinformation’ Instagram hack: reports

The Vancouver-area-born social media star, Lil Tay, who reportedly died is allegedly very much alive, according to pop culture news outlet, TMZ.
According to reports, Lil Tay’s Instagram account was hacked, resulting in “jarring misinformation” about her and her brother’s death,” according to a statement from the family.
“I want to make it clear that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I’m completely heartbroken, and struggling to even find the right words to say. It’s been a very traumatizing 24 hours. All day yesterday, I was bombarded with endless heartbreaking and tearful phone calls from loved ones all while trying to sort out this mess,” she told the outlet.
A statement announcing her “sudden and tragic passing” was posted on the personality’s Instagram page Wednesday morning.
“We have no words to express the unbearable loss and indescribable pain. This outcome was entirely unexpected, and has left us all in shock,” the hacked post stated.
The post goes on to say Lil Tay’s brother had also recently passed away, adding to the “unimaginable depth to our grief.”
In her statement to TMZ, she goes on to say, “My Instagram account was compromised by a 3rd party and used to spread jarring misinformation and rumors regarding me, to the point that even my name was wrong. My legal name is Tay Tian, not ‘Claire Hope.'”
Her Instagram account has 3.3. million followers, with her 2018 videos racking up tens of millions of views. Prior to the hacked post, she had not posted since 2018.
