You can almost smell the mini donuts: 2023 PNE Fair to open Saturday

The Pacific National Exhibition Fair starts this weekend, with Indigenous art, fun food, and even pig races. Sarah Chew checks out what’s to come at the 2023 PNE.

Who’s ready to eat too much cotton candy, ride the Zipper too many times, and cheer a little too loud at the Superdogs?

Yes, the 2023 PNE Fair is opening its gates Saturday morning for two full weeks of rides, games, food, and attractions, and the crowds are expected to be dense.

PNE President and CEO Shelley Frost said this year’s fair will have a few new features.

“Additional new shows and attractions at this year’s fair include the PNE Express Train and the exciting new music and dance celebration called Remix Inferno: A Pyro Musical Spectacular,” she said.

Also among the attractions is Ace’s Flying Pig Racing. Host Alex Zander says the pigs are ready and raring to go.

“They train here every day,” Zander said. “They get faster and faster as they get to go and explore. They find their angles, find their agility, and learn their racing lines, just like any motocross driver or fighter pilot does too.”

Zander said he is expecting audiences of thousands every single day.

“So get a seat early, and get them often,” he said. “It’s going to be standing room only so come by; it’s going to be really good.”

The Fair runs from Aug. 19 to Sept. 4. Adult admission is $25 at the gate, but you can save some money by purchasing in advance.
