The investigation into a police shootout on Highway 1 in West Vancouver earlier this year has ended, with no criminal charges being recommended against the officers involved.
According to the Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO), nobody was shot in the exchange of gunfire which took place in the early morning hours of June 26 on the westbound off-ramp at 15th Street.

The agency says police responded to reports of an impaired driver in the area, leading to the gunfight, with the suspect getting struck by a police vehicle. At the time, the suspect was said to have suffered serious injuries.
In an update Wednesday, the IIO says its investigation determined the suspect did not suffer “serious harm” as per the Police Act definition.
Thirty-nine-year-old Siavash Ahmadi is facing nine charges, including attempted murder in connection with the incident.
The IIO is called to investigate cases where police actions contribute to the death or serious injury of a civilian.
