Treat, not trick: No rain for Halloween in Metro Van

The weather is expected to cooperate Tuesday night, as trick or treaters descend on Metro Vancouver streets to pull in some Halloween candy.

Meteorologist Michael Kuss says the forecast doesn’t call for rain, so you won’t have to water-proof your costume.

You may want to consider another layer if you’re going to be out and about through the evening, but Kuss is calling for more mild temperatures.

“It’s not hot but for this time of year really nice, nice and dry. No precipitation in sight,” he explained. “There’s a little bit of cloud cover, that’s going to moderate the evening temperatures. It’s good news that we get some of that cloud in. I’m still expecting the moon to be breaking in and out through some of that cloud — it’s not super heavy.”

He says highs should be around 7 or 8 degrees from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with overnight lows only expected to drop to about 5 degrees.

“So even if you’re out late in something of a costume that is less than you would normally wear in this weather, it’s not going to be unbearable,” Kuss added.

The sun sets just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, with Kuss noting the moon won’t rise until 7:18 p.m., giving you a real window of darkness.

“It will be quite dark for about an hour or so before that moon comes up, and it’s just a few days past fall, so it will be quite dark,” he said.

To sweeten the deal, Kuss missed the high on Monday’s Weather Guarantee high, meaning the jackpot is up for grabs! Find out how to enter for your chance to win here.
