Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim makes bet ahead of BC Lions’ matchup with Calgary

City of Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim is putting a lot on the BC Lions ahead of their Western Conference Semi-Final matchup with the Calgary Stampeders.

In a video posted on X, Sim says he has made a bet with Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek.

He says, if the Stampeders beat the Lions, he will wear a Stampeders jersey at city hall and declare the day “Calgary Stampeders Day” in Vancouver.

“BC Lions fans, get out there, support, and come out to the game on Saturday and lead the charge,” he said. “The Lions are going to feed off your energy and we’re going to kick the crap out of the Stampeders.”

Sim says he isn’t too worried about the result, as he predicts that the Lions will beat those “stinking, rotten, good-for-nothing Stampeders.”

Gondek hasn’t made a post on X in response, but Sim has already asked her what size she’d like her Lions jersey to be, saying he’ll “be sure to have it ready.”

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at BC Place.

The winner of the matchup punches a ticket to the Western Final in Winnipeg.
