RCMP investigating leaked gang conflict document

Police in Abbotsford say the RCMP are investigating after a sensitive gang-related document was displayed on an online media site.
The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) says the intelligence document was used for investigating the ongoing B.C. gang conflict. A statement from B.C.’s gang squad and the AbbyPD says the naming of people in the document doesn’t mean they are directly related to any illegal activity, and police are contacting those who were mentioned.
The joint statement does not say which news site the information was on or what the document contained.
The document has since been removed from the mentioned website and police say they now know how the document was compromised and it didn’t come from within the AbbyPD.
Police add that the Privacy and Police Complaints Commissioners have been notified.
Police say there is no increased risk to the public following the document’s release as the investigation remains ongoing.
The AbbyPD adds it won’t be commenting any further on the matter for now.
