The Surrey RCMP says an 81-year-old man was killed Wednesday night after a hit-and-run in the city’s Strawberry Hill neighbourhood.
Mounties say the crash happened on 120A Street near 75A Avenue just before 6:55 p.m.
Despite the best efforts of police and Emergency Health Services, Mounties say the man died at the scene.

“The initial investigation indicates the pedestrian was crossing the road and was struck by a vehicle that did not remain on scene,” Corp. Vanessa Munn said in a statement Thursday.
The Surrey RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team is working with the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service to investigate the death.
Police are now urging anyone who was in the area of the crash between 6:30 and 7 p.m., and who may have dashcam footage or witnessed the crash, to contact Mounties at 604-599-0503.
