Drivers should expect delays Saturday due to Surrey parade: RCMP

Delays are expected on Surrey’s East Newton roads on Saturday because of a parade, the Surrey RCMP says.

Traffic disruptions due to the Nagan Kirtan Parade, which will take place on 152 St. between 64 Ave. and 72 Ave., will affect drivers from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The affected area will run between 71A Ave. to 68 Ave., and from 148 St. and 150 St.

TransLink says buses will be diverted due to the Nagar Kirtan Parade on 152 St. between 64 Ave. and 72 Ave. will be diverted between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and then again from 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

As well, the annual Surrey Tree Lighting Festival & Holiday Market is taking place at Surrey Civic Plaza from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, with further celebrations extending into Sunday.

Last year’s ceremony drew over 20,000 attendees, and the City of Surrey expects a larger crowd this year, so drivers in the area may have to deal with extra traffic. Surrey Civic Plaza is located on 104 Av. near 134 St.
