Mission school district ‘SOGI Mythbusters’ event turns to chaos

The Mission Public School District attempted to address sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) resource misinformation on Tuesday, but the event quickly went sideways.
District officials advertised it as a “myth-busting” exercise but, after 20 minutes, it became clear that many people didn’t want to listen to what they had to say.
The people who were most vocal seemed to be against the idea of SOGI and didn’t agree with the attempts at myth-busting.
At one point, a man took out a megaphone and started yelling at the presenters as they were on stage.
The event was supposed to run for two hours but was cut short after the crowd at Heritage Park Middle School got angry when they couldn’t ask questions.
Those running the SOGI Mythbusters event said they would only address written questions in an attempt to prevent critics from taking over.
The Mission RCMP was on site to keep order.
