Pedestrian struck by vehicle near Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

An employee of the well-known North Vancouver suspension bridge park was struck by a vehicle just outside of the park Friday night.

The company says one of their employees was using the crosswalk near the park on Capilano Road when he was struck by a car that ran a red light.

The employee was taken to hospital in critical condition and joined by his family there, the company says.

The North Vancouver RCMP tells CityNews it responded to the incident and issued the driver a violation ticket for failing to stop for a red light.

“I am unable to provide any further details,” Const. Mansoor Sahak said.

“The safety of our team members is our number one priority,” said Stacy Chala with Capilano Group. “Our thoughts and prayers are with our team member and their family, and we are giving them the space they need during this very difficult time. “

Additionally, Chala says trauma counsellors have been made available on-site and team members have been advised they can confidentially access assistance if needed.
