Mounties in Langley say a woman died Tuesday night after a serious crash involving a five-ton truck.
The Langley RCMP says it was called out around 7:30 p.m. to the collision on 264 Street at 48 Avenue, near the Greater Vancouver Zoo.
Police say through its initial investigation, it believes the driver of a Dodge pick-up truck was stopped in the northbound lane of 264 Street, waiting to turn left onto 48 Avenue.
“A Ford Taurus, also northbound on 264 Street did not react to the stopped pick up truck until the last minute and swerved into the south bound lane, into the path of an oncoming 5 ton truck,” Mounties told CityNews.
Police add the Taurus then left the road and rolled down an embankment.
“Unfortunately, the driver and lone occupant of the Taurus succumbed to her injuries at the scene,” Mounties said.
The driver of the 5 ton truck was uninjured, and remained at the scene of the collision.
Police are now urging anyone with information or footage of the incident to contact the Langley RCMP at 604 532-3200.
