IHIT called in after body found in Surrey

The Lower Mainland’s homicide team has been called to Surrey after the RCMP says a body was found in the city’s Newton neighbourhood Sunday morning.

Police say they were called out around 9 a.m. to 62 Avenue near 121 Street after reports of a “suspicious vehicle.”

“Upon attendance, police located a deceased person in the vehicle,” Const. Parmbir Kahlon said.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is now working with the Surrey RCMP to “determine the circumstances of the death and if criminality was a factor.”

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
