Man charged after Port Moody vehicle windows smashed, police say

Charges have been laid after a man was seen smashing vehicle windows outside of a Port Moody hospital.

The Port Moody Police Department says officers were called to the Eagle Ridge Hospital parking lot on Monday around 9 p.m. The man who was reportedly causing the damage is alleged to have threatened a security guard before leaving the scene.

Officers say they arrested a man matching the “suspect’s description” several blocks away shortly after the incident. Police say the man was found with “numerous tools and alleged stolen property, including passports.”

“It was learned he had been released with conditions several hours prior for similar alleged offences in another jurisdiction,” said Const. Sam Zacharias.

A 34-year-old man is now charged with mischief, theft, and failing to comply with a probation order. He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for Dec. 15.

Police are asking any witnesses or potential victims to contact them at 604-461-3456 and quote file number 2023-6998.
