Mounties in Coquitlam say one man has life-threatening injuries after a shooting in the area of Westwood Street and Glen Drive — the third shooting in as many days in the area.
Police say they responded to a shooting in the area of Westwood Street and Glen Drive just after 4 p.m. Saturday, where they found the injured man, who was transported to the hospital.
Two suspects were seen running away from the scene, the RCMP says.
“We understand that these last three days have been incredibly stressful to the community, and we want to assure the public that our officers are working tirelessly to advance all of these investigations,” said Inspector Darren Carr, operations support officer for the Coquitlam RCMP. “Public safety is our top priority.”
Carr says the three shootings are “isolated, targeted and involving a small group of individuals.”

Callers to CityNews shortly before 5 p.m. reported a large police presence in the area.
One caller reported seeing between multiple police cars and armed officers near Glen Elementary School.
“There’s 10, 12 police cars everywhere,” the caller said. “And … police officers are out with their rifles.”
This latest incident comes just hours after Coquitlam RCMP arrested a man inside the Coquitlam Centre Mall outside the Apple Store at 11:30 a.m. Police told CityNews one suspect was taken into custody outside the Apple Store. No one was injured in that incident, and at that time, police said there was no further risk to the public.
As well, this comes after police say a “brazen” shooting took place near the mall on Thursday afternoon. Another shooting took place Friday evening in Coquitlam, which police are now saying could be linked to Thursday’s incident.
Police have not confirmed a connection between this latest shooting and any of the previous incidents.
Police are asking anyone with any information about this investigation to call them at 604-945-1550 and quote file 2024-518.
They are also interested in any dash-cam, cellphone, or home surveillance video from the area between 3 p.m and 5 p.m.
